This week our Year 4s have been experimenting with slime in Science!

Our Year 5s have been busy making pies this week!

As part of our topic on Poverty in Britain the pupils carried out research on Victorian and Tudor pie designs and recipes. They then practised some designs using play dough. The Vale and Downland Museum came in and did some workshops on handling Victorian artefacts and drama session with Lady Wantage with Y5 where they had to be interviewed for jobs – see Magnus’s photo! He was interviewed to be a cook’s assistant.

Sponsored Walk

We had a beautiful day for our bi-annual sponsored walk to Ardington.

34 Y5/6 pupils spent half a day at Oxford University Ruskin School of Art working with artist Tara Benjamin-Morgan drawing and exploring feet, hands and facial emotions. The second half of the day was spent at the Botanic Gardens exploring the range of plants on show to help the children to design and create a new plant. This was a wonderful trip enjoyed by pupils and parents who came along. The pupils’ work will eventually be displayed in our new art studio.

During our assembly today the winners of our writing competition were announced and the new Library Monitors were introduced to the school.  They gave us information about an exciting reading challenge; Munch on a Morpurgo and Dine on a Donaldson.

Our Year 4 and 5 classes visited Westmill Wind Farm.
