Headteacher’s weekly blog

WEEK 4
All the timetables are in place now and the term is in full swing. Children and parents should now be aware of the topics being covered over the term and homework routines should be established. This Tuesday was more quiet than usual at Charlton as King Alfred’s Academy had an open morning for all Year 6 pupils in the partnership and Year 5 had their classrooms to themselves. The visit to King Alfred’s was very positive. Mrs Walters took a group of Year  5 pupils to a Maths Challenge at Summer Fields school on Tuesday where they performed extremely well in the competition, one group coming 8th out of 50 schools and the other group 20th. This is a great opportunity for some of our pupils to test their Maths skills. There will be a similar Year 6 challenge later in the year. We have had the new signage fitted this week to direct visitors to the school. We are just waiting on the completion of the blue perimeter fencing and the delivery of a pram and pushchair park and then the front entrance is complete. The schools’ financial systems were audited yesterday by a Local Authority auditor. This is a three- yearly event to ensure all systems are secure.
