Special Events

Our activities evening was a great success yet again. The children joined in with enthusiasm, with the older children supporting the younger ones during each activity. A special ending to the evening took Mrs de la Coze rather by surprise.

Our annual talent show was as popular as ever this year. Well done to all who took part…

And the winner was…

On Friday May 1st, the Wantage Morris dancers paid us a visit, to tell the children about May Day traditions – and to perform some of their dances. The sun shone, and the audience thoroughly enjoyed it!

The children decided that the hoardings surrounding the immense building works, were a bit of an eye-sore. So each class had the opportunity to brighten them up a bit.

On Thursday 5th March, we enjoyed ‘World Book Day’. Children were encouraged to bring in their favourite books. Younger and Older children shared their stories. A special assembly led by Mrs. Merrison brought all the learning together.

On Saturday 7th February, a group of children performed at a joint concert with Wantage Orchestra and other VAT schools. The concert was linked to the ‘BBC Ten Pieces’ initiative, which encourages young children to listen to, explore and create classical music. Some of our children played the violin, drums and recorders. The choir also performed. It was a fantastic concert, enjoyed by all.

Just before Christmas, a group of musicians performed for the residents of Stirling Care Home in Wantage, and then at the Wantage Day Centre. They sang and played beautifully, and the audience truly appreciated it.

On Saturday, 13th September 2014, the school celebrated its 50th Anniversary. Hundreds of present and former pupils enjoyed a sociable evening on the school field.
