On the last day of term we had a visit by the local Fire Brigade (planned of course!) It provided a fun and interesting end to our topic about water.
As part of our learning about ‘water’, the children visited Buscot Village and Lock. They walked alongside the river and watched boats going through the lock. Mrs. Base’s children enjoyed a game of ‘Pooh Sticks’. The adventure playground was as popular as ever – as was the end of trip ice cream enjoyed by adults and children alike!

This week the children have been continuing their learning centred around the story of ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’. They have planted their magic beans. They have designed and constructed castles both inside and outside.
We were also fortunate to watch a local group of Irish dancers perform, in celebration of St. Patrick’s Day. The children thoroughly enjoyed watching the performance- and then having a go themselves!
Week beginning 9th March
Red Nose Day
Some children also visited the local garden centre to buy some magic beans…
Week beginning 2nd March
The children found some dragons’ eggs in the nature reserve this week. This really captured the children’s imaginations. They drew what they thought the baby dragons would look like. They made nests to keep the eggs warm and protected. They invented dragon catchers…and then the egg hatched! The hunt for the baby dragons began and the excitement this brought to the unit was fantastic!
The week ended with Rhys’s mum bringing in a bearded dragon, for the children to look at and handle.
We’ve been learning about Chinese New Year this week. The children really enjoyed dancing and playing instruments to the Chinese Music.
